Integrated Resource

Nether Green Junior School Integrated Resource offers specialist provision for children in Y3 to Y6 with specific Special Educational Needs.

It is funded by the Local Authority who decide which children are allocated a place. It is for Statemented children with significant learning difficulties and complex needs.  To find out about admission to the Integrated Resource, please contact the school.

Our children mostly come from the southwest of the city. Pupils can start in the resource at any time during their time in Junior school (age 7 – 11), although most of our children start in Year 3. Pupils may be entitled to transport by the Local Authority.

Our staff are trained to meet the needs of children with a variety of complex learning needs and in the past, we have worked with pupils with Moderate/Severe Learning Difficulties, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dyspraxia, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Tourettes and Smith-Magenis Syndrome.

Our pupils go on to the secondary schools appropriate to their needs- either to a mainstream secondary school, to an integrated resource in a mainstream school or to a special school. The resource is staffed with a high ratio of staff to children (approximately 1:3).

Resources for Families

Sheffield Children’s Hospital and Sheffield City Council have developed resources for families, children and young people who may be on the waiting list for an assessment for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or other neurodevelopmental conditions or may already have a diagnosis. We know that the time before and after assessment can be a difficult and frustrating situation for children and families and have provided these resources to help.

There are a number of pages filled with resources to manage difficulties around sleep, behaviour, emotional well-being, sensory issues, going back to school, COVID-19 and the assessment process itself.

There are quick reference sheets, top tips, booklets, guides and videos across all the topics for a range of ages. If you would like a paper copy of the summary booklet then please call 0114 271 7656.
